Are You Ready for December Nights?
Friday, December 7, (3:00 - 11:00 pm) and Saturday, December 8, 2018 (noon-11:00 pm)
The countdown has begun for the City of San Diego's 41st annual free holiday festival. December Nights will kick off the holiday season this Dec. 7 and 8, 2018, and feature light displays; inspirational choirs, bands and dancers; amazing food and fun-filled attractions.
Things to Know Before You Go
- PLAN AHEAD.
- BE A GOOD NEIGHBOR. Please remember to respect our park neighbors—keep noise to a minimum, dispose of your trash and recyclables, practice good parking etiquette and remember, if you see something, say something!
- LEAVE YOUR PETS AT HOME. The event welcomes those who require a trained service animal to assist them. For those animals not specifically trained to work in a dynamic, crowded and unpredictable environment, you will be putting your pet in a potentially hazardous and frightening situation. This is why we strongly encourage you to not bring your pet to the event.
- CARPOOL, TROLLEY, or RIDESHARE TO THE EVENT. Ridesharing makes it easier to get to December Nights. Both sides of Sixth Ave. near the Laurel Street Bridge are dedicated drop-off and pick-up locations. Shuttles are provided to help you avoid the traffic directly adjacent to the event. For more information, visit the Transportation/Parking page.
- PARKING. Pack your patience, lots fill up quickly. Limited free parking is available at the San Diego Zoo and convenient paid parking is available at the Inspiration Point parking lot ($20 per car). Disabled parking is available off Park Blvd on Presidents Way. Although the lots are strictly ADA, they do fill up. Please arrive early for the best selection.
- WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES. You will be walking on concrete sidewalks, grass, dirt and asphalt. There may be some uneven ground, caution is recommended.
- DRESS IN LAYERS. Though San Diego winters are usually mild, the ability to add or subtract a layer will go a long way towards your comfort.
- SAFETY FIRST. Strike a pose and snap a photo of everyone in your group and choose a meeting place in case you become separated. Take a picture of where you parked your car (especially in residential areas) to help you find your way back.
- RECYCLE. We are providing recycling containers throughout the event area and we are looking to you to help us keep Balboa Park beautiful and ecologically responsible.
Entertainment
