Welcome to Del Sur, San Diego’s most eco-friendly master planned community. So eco-friendly, Del Sur was awarded Governor Schwarzenegger’s most prestigious awards, the Governor’s Environmental & Economic Leadership Award (GEELA ). The award recognized Del Sur’s commitment to developing socially responsible and environmentally friendly practices that promote environmental protection and economic growth, demonstrating an exemplary dedication to its families and community to protect the natural resources and environment for generations to come.

Some of the ways Del Sur has shown its commitment to green practices includes its mandatory recycling and conservation requirements for builders. Construction waste has been recycled and reused within the development whenever possible, allowing the majority of the waste to be diverted from the landfill. Water conservation is also a key goal, and can be seen in the mandatory use of tankless water heaters, weather-based satellite irrigation systems, and drought-resistant landscaping. Del Sur requires at least 20 percent of homes to include solar energy systems with many neighborhoods incorporating solar power in up to 40 percent of homes. Upon completion, Del Sur will be one of the largest solar-powered communities in California.

Complete with parks, pools, open space and trails, and located in the Award Winning Poway School District, Del Sur encompasses 1,800 acres of land. It is a unique community where architecture varies from house-to-house and block by block. Families walk, parks are steps away and the residents feel they own a “home” and not just a “house”. Community parks offer music and organized activities throughout the year. Neighborhood barbeques are often held by the pool creating an active and vibrant community spirit.
